Ecuador Trek – Antisana

This trek takes you to one of the most scenic and spectacular routes of the eastern cordillera, with the most varied vegetation of the highlands along with the snow-capped volcano Antisana.

Day 1. Quito - Hacienda El Inga - La Dormida
You will depart by jeep in the morning from Quito to the Hacienda El Inga. In this small Indian village we will load your gear onto horseback and set off toward the valley of La Dormida. After crossing a huge Polylepis forest, the trek continues for a further 5-hours before setting up the campsite by the river at 3600m.

Day 2. Antisanilla Mountain - Volcano lake
After breakfast, you will cross a pass at 4000m along the Antisanilla mountain and trek  towards the next valley, passing rivers and tbe huge Páramo vegetation. You will descend into a volcano-lake and set up our camp at 3500 m.

Day 3. Climb Antisana - Laguna Volcan
Today we will go uphill in order to reach the high plateau of Antisana. We will admire the variety of flora and fauna of the Andes as well as the lava fields. In the afternoon we establish our camp at Laguna Volcan.

Day 4. Thermal hot springs of Papallacta - Quito
Early in the morning we will head back towards the end of the plateau to catch amazing views of Antisana. We descend toward Papallacta and finally enjoy the thermal springs of this small town. In the afternoon we will return back to Quito.
